Is it Fast Sunday? Man I'm hungry.

Well the scouts came through and did the scouting for food drive yesterday. I think that we had to get a few people out of bed but got all the food donations collected and delivered to the food bank in record time. We collected two car loads of food. Thanks for everyone who donated generously!

This is  the "get 'er done" look on Wade and Gavin

Willow Park on the Jordan (What is that Smell?)

Hey the scouts kicked off their camping season with a first time trip to Willow Park in Lehi. It is right on the Jordan River and depending on which way the wind is blowing pretty darn close to a dairy farm.

The prevailing wind grabs Alex's attention.
A little rusty after a few months off from the finer points of springbars.
Alex enjoying the brisk in brisket.
Dinner in on and around the fire.
 Fire.
About 20 degrees at this point. At least we were able to get Slade to get his jacket out of his bag, Couldn't get him to put it on more that this though. Did you know how cold it gets in Ukraine?
River hike the next day after all the frost and ice chunks in the river melted. Picking up trash for service hours, identifying plants and animals and having fun.
If you will pick it up and put it in the bag I will carry the bag. Seems fair.
What's the worst a 2300 lbs. animal pumped full of hormones could do? Let's see if we can annoy them!
Chris was strangely fascinated with this brown patty of steaming semi viscous mass.
Lunch and compass work finished off the afternoon.

Scout Oh Limp Ics!

AJ put together a great experience for the boys that will for ever more be known as the Scout Olympics of 2012. It was a competition of scouts scouting their scoutly skills. View the winners in the trophy case by the Bishop's office.

Team 782 opening ceremonies. The laser light show was simply stunning!
Many an eyebrow survived the fire starting events.
Knot tying or not tying, you be the judge.
Silent tent pitch this year and looking forward to the blind folded tent pitch in 2016.
Timed lifesaving activities. Thank goodness all drowning victims were simulations.
The ubiquitous scout horse play could in no way be suppressed. Not like anyone even tries.
Knowledge the keystone and cornerstone of all scouting endeavors. That might not actually be an architecturally sound principle. Use in actual construction should be discouraged.
