River Yaking

Hey All,

We made it safe and sound down the river. Jens, Chris and Wade were all super nervous going down that first rapid but they got the hang of it quick and had a blast paddling down the Provo River from below Deer Creek dam down to the Woodside train trestle.

 OK let's go.
 Is this water sanitary?
Rob said to paddle through the waves, So I'm PADDLING!
 Good Job!
 Go Jens!
 Trent's got your back.
 Fearless Leader.
Really, try to paddle away from the bushes, OK!?
Lap 1 done. Everyone safe and sound and only this close to tipping over two or three times.
 Found a caterpillar.
 Wade's turn.
Keeping after it.
Much less nervous the second time down.

 I got this.
 We'll see, I guess.
 Alright!
Really, he knows he's not supposed to lean back. Really.
 Made it too.
Awww, do we have to get out now?
Fun for everyone!

Thanks Gloria, Miki and Caden for running shuttle and helping out as our group's support crew.

Yak-a-dee Yak, don't lean back

Hi All,

The scouts had a great time not so far from home camping and kayaking. We spent the night at the freight train enhanced Spanish Fork River park and then went to the Spanish Oaks Reservoir to practice our skillz. Outfitting skillz, kayaking skillz, wet exiting skills.

Everyone has a lot of fun and these are the boys and leaders who earned their BSA Kayaking patch: Hunter, Jenz, Wade, Chris, Caden, Damon and Nick. Next Saturday we will go down the Provo River and finish up the requirements for the Whitewater merit badge.

 Hmmm, fire not working.
 Tin foiled again!

 Meat no longer frozen, check.
 Good times.
Must put stuff in fire. Can't resist.
Ready to go, wet exit accomplished.
 Paddle time.
Is this PFD on backwards or is my chin just too low?
 Go Hunter!
Chilling as all good kayakers are apt to do.
 Ramming Speed!
What a line up!
